On Thanksgiving Day, The Greg Jennings Foundation hosted a special community feast for dozens of clients of the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Although a Thanksgiving dinner was still served at the Mission for 250 clients and members of the community, the foundation also prepared a wonderful traditional meal for clients and provided recreational entertainment, including bouncers for the kids, televised football games and pool. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of two beautiful flat-screen televisions, microwaves and football tossing games for our clients' enjoyment, all generous gifts of the Greg Jennings Foundation.
Kalamazoo is truly blessed to have Greg Jennings. Although he has achieved some fantastic goals as a member of the Green Bay Packers football team, he and his wife, Nicole, have not forgotten their roots. They have very giving hearts for the less fortunate and show their love and concern in a beautiful way by hosting a wonderful event for people who have so little and who seldom are treated with concern and respect. The mission is very grateful to them and the staff of the foundation, directed by Toya Williams.
The following contributors also made the event a huge success: Felpausch, Sav-a-Lot, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group of Paw Paw, The Canopeum, Inc., Continental Linen, Edible Arrangements, Cookies by Design, Amazing Grace Day Care, Argos East Property, Carrabba's, Vicksburg Chrysler, Party Creations by Shirley, Sears Roebuck Center, Visser Construction, Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites, Fortitude Graphic Design, Airway Lanes Fun Center, loanna Shields, Chelsea Regis Salon, Bimbo's Pizza, Big Apple Bagel, Chuck E. Cheese, Al Refrigeration, Asiago's, Target, Harding's Grocery Store, Putt Putt Golf, Subway, Great Harvest Bread Company, and numerous cooks and volunteers who prepared and served the meal with love. We also thank the Douglass Community Association and the Douglass Center Boys and Girls Club for sharing their facility so graciously with us.
Isn't that what Christmas is all about -- remembering a transient family dependent on the kindness of an innkeeper and some shepherds 2,000 years ago?
